Death Certificates

Death certificates are available for deaths occurring in Butte County.

Fees & Ordering Methods

The fee for a certified copy of a death certificate is $24. You may order a copy of a death certificate by one of the following:

  • Fill out an online application, then appear at the Clerk-Recorders Office within 10 working days, at 155 Nelson Avenue, Oroville, with a valid ID. You will receive the certified copy at that time.
  • Coming into the office at 155 Nelson Avenue, Oroville. The process takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes. You will receive the certified copy at that time.
  • Mail the completed Certified Copy of Death Application Form (PDF) and the $24 fee to:

  • Order online through the Vital Records Certified Copies.
